What is Zentini?
In the summer of 2024, when I was interning at Swecha as a technical writer, I was in a long distance relationship. One of the most annoying things about it was the lack of proper choices for video calling, especially for laptops. Facetime on Mac was broken, it never worked as intended and was buggy as hell. Whatsapp VCing was no better. The only proper option left was Gmeet. Which was mostly used for work anyways. I then realised there was not really any good alternative for video calls with friends and loved ones. All the options in the market were geared towards corporates. I then wanted to build a video calling platform specifically for people in long distance, or friends etc, which had a UI which didn't remind one of work (I don't a raise my hand option while video calling my girlfriend?)
One of the first things I had done was document a list of pain points (which annoyed us personally), and a list of features we wish we had in the ideal VCing app. A screenshot of that pdf is here:
Well, obviously it wasn't too polished or professional or technical by any means, and it is only a first and final draft of the doc I made back then.
Nothing really happened for a couple years after that, and I didn't actively think about it until now…
Enter Claude Code
I ended up getting my hands on claude code finally, and wanted to try it out to build a real product, when I remembered that I actually had an idea which I could finally bring to life! After a few sessions, my idea finally came to life in front of my eyes. It felt pretty cool, and the fact that I could bring an idea into life just with a powerful tool and english was super fascinating.
My main aim was to build something that actually works, and focus on the tinier details and aesthetics at a later stage, which I did. Here's some more details and screenshots of the tool-

- Basic HD video calling (for 2 people only)
- No account or signup needed, just create a room link and share it to join

P.S- I would appreciate any user feedback on this, I intend to constantly improve this and eventually make it a full fledged video calling experience for long distance couples. Use it to catch up with your partner, or make it official with your long distance situationship (lol)
